On September 13, 2008, Bridge City, Texas, on the Gulf Coast, suffered great loss due to a tidal surge from Hurricane Ike. The entire community was covered in water with many residents having up to seven feet of water in their homes. There were 3,400 families and hundreds of business owners who faced the aftermath of the destruction from this powerful storm. The Federal Emergency Management Association (FEMA) delivered 1,800 trailers to the residents for temporary housing. The City buildings were destroyed and a majority of the town was temporarily homeless.
On September 24, 2008, Jeff Parrent, president of LTC Professional Builders was chosen to rebuild the City buildings of Bridge City. His LTC team intended to renovate the City buildings and return to North Texas. However, the need for quality contractors was tremendous. Jeff decided to accept the call to help rebuild, not just the City buildings, but also as many families’ homes as needed. As we celebrate the one year anniversary of Hurricane Ike, the 75 team members of LTC Professional Builders have worked tirelessly to put over 50 families and 300 people back in their homes and offices. Today 65 percent of the residents are back in their homes. There are only 560 FEMA trailers remaining. Businesses are re-opening every week. Hope has been restored. LTC is honored to be an ongoing partner in the rebuilding of Bridge City.
